"I usually prefer smaller, independent hotels to the big institutional “standard issue” ones, and I can recommend the friendly Hotel Domus to anyone who shares this preference. Its location was great, within easy walking of much that you will want to see in central Coimbra, and with a number of restaurant and pasty shops nearby. The bed was comfortable, the expanded continental-type breakfast was very good, and my room television even picked up several English-language channels (not that anyone goes to Coimbra to watch television, but during the mid-December rains I encountered, this came in rather handy at times!). I would gladly stay here again. (Note: this site placed a tiny Spain flag under my name -- not a big deal, but I'm actually from the USA.)"

"The hotel has an 'old fashioned' feel to it. Initially this may appear offputting but in reality it is a quiet haven in the midst of the old town. Close to other facilities, staff are friendly and charming. All good."

"This is a small family run hotel in a quiet back street. You can drive down the road but the space outside the hotel is very limited. We parked on the main road outside the Oslo Hotel (it's only meant for guests of that hotel but they let us stay for 10 minutes) and we picked up the parking card for the big underground car park. The location is excellent - walking distance to pretty much everything you want to visit. The staff are really friendly and attentive. Rooms are clean, air con is good."
