Finca Ometepe

"Loved the setting and the noises from the birds and insects, and the occasional howler monkey - I saw spider monkeys in the big tree on the corner of the drive. Very peaceful (apart from the donkeys on occasion!) and spacious apartment with huge balcony and hammocks, and great views of the volcano. Helpful, friendly staff and great service from Jose Luis re taxis and ATV hire. Driving the ATV was fine once I got the hang and the roads are pretty good and mostly car-free. Well equipped bathroom and kitchen with useful basics ie rice, coffee, salt & pepper, oil. Well kept grounds - a lovely place."

"Reading light in the main bedroom was dim, and the lighting in the second bedroom was really low. You definitely need transport to get to a (recommended) swimming beach/other activities and many of the shops/restaurants are at least 25 mins walk from the top of the drive."

"We would absolutely recommend Finca Ometepe. The house was clean and very well maintained, we were constantly being visited by birds and butterflies on the patio and in the garden. We loved the tour of the farm, trying fresh produce, and even milking the goats! Breakfast was delicious as well."

"Lovely little house in nature we stayed 3 days and wish we could stay longer. we loved the animals and the chance to ride the beautiful horses also we milked the goats which was a fantastic experience and the staff round the property were so nice and got back to us very quickly with any questions"

"The tarantula that seems to live between the bug door and the actual door round the back each time we opened it to go to the bathroom it tried to get in maybe a little more seal on bug door would help? But we understand its the jungle and we tapped it away with a broom"

"Set in beautiful gardens and scenery but close to a small town with restaurants etc. loved the 2 cats too - so friendly and lovely to have a cuddle with. Rooms are a great size. Kitchen looked like its well equipped although we didn’t use it bar making some morning coffee."

"Hard to fault - we loved it. Only thing would be the main bed is very squeaky - perhaps a bit of wd40 would be a quick fix"

"It felt peaceful and private, yet also safe! We loved the butterflies in front of our cabin and we liked all the greenery. The kitchen was perfect and I loved having two lounge areas (eating and sitting). Staff was very friendly!"

"This finca is a working farm and orchard. The animals provide a grounding effect and the orchard is varied and lovingly kept up. As is the entire property. The hosts are wonderful and caring and provided excellent service in helping us decide on tours and guides. Overall, it was extra special in every way! From now on, it will be where I stay when visiting Ometepe!"

"Entire house for yourself, including hammock, terrace, kitchen, drinking water and eggs/fruits from the farm. Very nice and welcoming staff, while being discreet Lovely dogs :)"

"It says that dinner is available but it's not. Not a big issue as there are restaurants nearby, but would be good to know in advance as they close quite early."

"The hosts were very clear with communication, providing helpful details on how to get to their location and references for local taxis, activities, etc. I loved the animals on the farm! So cute! I loved the house - so luxurious to wake up watching the waves on Lake Nicaragua and drink coffee... What a dream! We definitely want to come back and bring friends :)"

"The only 'negative' things are just facts of island life... there were short periods of power outage, there were several spiders and other bugs but that doesn't detract from the stay because it would be as likely to happen anywhere else on the island."
